Introduction

The Maurice Ile Durable (MID) is central to the development of Mauritius. The coming years promise to be fascinating for Renewable Energies and the Environment as Mauritius becomes a leader in sustainable development in the region.

The 2010 ranking by the Environmental Performance Index (EPI) ranks Mauritius 6th out of 163 countries is testimony to the progress that the country has made in taking care of its environment. However there is always room for improvement, which is why Mauritius is putting emphasis on a Green Mauritius.
